-
- Sure, but the cost of a silly 030 board at 50Mhz is around $800 CDN for
- which price 2-3 Pentium 100 cpus could be had. Those are business market
- prices not home market prices.

- : value" of ANY 68K-series machine is currently null. If you want to let
- : the peecee market dictate to ATG how to design thier machines, you've
- : already conceded the market to the peecee.
-
- If they don't they will have to sell their tents as blue jean material. :)
- If AT can't make cheap machines they have to make good machines and find
- people to buy them other than current low end amiga owners.
-
- : Perhaps this never occurred to you, but the Amiga hasn't played the
- : peecee game for a VERY long time, it's NOT a peecee, it's designed
- : differently. The PROBLEM is that no one seems to see this. It's a
-
- Sure better hardware integration, os with a more advanced legacy as a base.
- But if it is going to be a luxury item then AT will have to sell to other
- people than many of the existing amiga owners.
-
- : Your "three generations" are nonexistant. The new Amiga prototype is a
- : modification of AGA, nothing more. The _next_ generation is being worked
- : on. It will not happen overnight.
-
- Sure, first part of '97, PPC for the high end, any bets on whether it will
- be cheaper than the a4000 is today?
-
- : Don't make the mistake of mis-labeling the prototype Amiga as what ATG's
- : going to stick with for the next 5 years. MOST people see it for what it
- : is, a simple expansion of thier current product line. I'm sorry if that
- : distinction is lost on you.
-
- I see it as a replacement for the a1200 since I doubt AT will keep making
- a1200s for much longer. If there is a PPC amiga low end it will only be low
- end compared to the high end, in price it won't be competitive.
